Easy topic to start
Sports are usually a super easy topic to get a guy into. Once you get him talking, you will feel more comfortable and move on to whatever you want to talk about.

Plan Your Conversations
Think about what you want to say before you talk to them. If you don't know who you're going to talk to, just brainstorm random ideas to talk about with any guy.

relax
The first thing about talking to guys is you have to know what they like. Most of the time you can keep taking about whatever they like. Or if you're in any of their classes you can talk to them about the teachers or homework. Even if you don't have any classes with them, you can still talk about school. Also, if you don't have anything to say to them about school, just bring up a topic that would interest you. Ask his opinion and the conversation will naturally start!

It's a guy
Ask him questions, and add to what he says. Compliment him so he'll compliment you and talk about you. If you just loosen up it will be fine.

You may not even have to talk much
It's helpful to find out what they really like and ask questions about that. I sometimes have a hard time talking to my boyfriend, so I fall back on cars and sports. I learn a lot that way, and he can talk about what he likes most, and he does the talking. I just ask questions when I don't understand something.
And guys can be just as shy. There's nothing wrong with silence. Most guys won't even think you're boring.
